Seattle Kraken honor Yousri Omar as a Hero of the deep

Mary’s Place board member and longtime supporter, Yousri Omar, was recognized as a Hero of the Deep at a recent Seattle Kraken hockey game!

Yousri was honored for his incredible pro bono legal work with Mary’s Place, where he helps families overcome barriers to safe, stable housing. As part of a team from Amazon that regularly hosts free legal clinics at Mary’s Place, Yousri’s support ranges from resolving past evictions and navigating tenant disputes to addressing credit and debt challenges and helping families access unemployment benefits. Even seemingly small issues—like old parking tickets or minor infractions—can feel insurmountable when you’re facing housing instability. Many people don’t know how to navigate the complicated legal system, feel paralyzed by the first step, or worry that what’s on their record is worse than it really is. Yousri’s work removes the guesswork, the fear, and the financial barriers, giving families the guidance and confidence they need to move forward.

Through his efforts, families can secure apartments, maintain housing, and regain stability, giving children and parents the foundation to focus on school, work, and family life.

The Heroes of the Deep program, established by The One Roof Foundation—the philanthropic arm of the Seattle Kraken and Climate Pledge Arena—celebrates individuals who transform lives, build resiliency, and uplift their communities. Each Hero also gets to select a nonprofit to receive a $32,000 Kraken Unity Fund donation, making Yousri’s recognition even more meaningful for the families at Mary’s Place.
