With the immediate pressure lifted, Nancy began looking ahead.

She began searching for a more affordable apartment where her family could continue building a stable future after her lease ends this summer. She also started working with a therapist to support her mental health as she navigated her grief.

At the same time, Nancy became one of the first participants in Bridge to Stability, a new pilot program at Mary's Place that helps parents strengthen their financial futures through career training and economic support.

Nancy enrolled in an OSHA flagging certification course that will open the door to new employment opportunities. While she completes her training, Mary's Place is helping with practical needs like gas and groceries so she can focus on finishing her certification without falling behind on the essentials.

When she completes the program, Mary's Place's Economic Advancement team will help connect her with job opportunities and continue supporting her as she works toward long-term financial stability.

Nancy's story is a reminder that homelessness doesn't always begin with losing a job or a home. Sometimes it starts with a few unexpected bills or expenses that quietly become impossible to keep up with.
