oh baby! Mary’s place prepares for newborns

Mary’s Place is expecting! Several newborn babies will be joining families at our shelters over the next several months – 25, in fact! To celebrate, Mary’s Place is holding baby showers for families to supply them with the essentials they need to care for their new arrivals.

“We want our new parents to feel all the joy that comes with bringing a new baby into the world, and that includes lessening the anxiety around how they will provide for their baby’s needs. It’s a special and important time for parent and baby to bond and get off to a great start. As any new parent can attest, having support and the items you need is critical during those first days and months with a newborn,” said Tina Browne, Program Site Director at the Regrade.

At the baby showers, expectant mothers get to choose items that best suit their needs and share in some fun comparing notes and stories with other mothers, staff, and friends.

“This diaper bag is great. All of these gifts are so sweet! Thank you to everyone who donated all these clothes and supplies. It’s such a relief to know I’m as ready as possible. The staff at Mary's Place have been so supportive and helpful, that helps a lot,” said one mom-to-be.

With more babies on the way, Mary’s Place needs supplies to ensure the infants have their very best start now and during the months ahead. Diapers (sizes 5-6 are most needed), wipes, diaper cream, and shampoo are ongoing needs of Mary’s Place families, along with more specific items for newborns like warm suits and coats, baby blankets, and pacifiers.
